When GreenGuy found out that a favorite author, Tim Green, had not one, but two new books out, we had to drop everything and go get them! I’m always happy to see my see my son reading and enjoying his books because as I’ve said before, he’s such a positive role model. Rivals: A Baseball Great Novel (Baseball Greats), by Tim Green was at the library

There may be no snow yet, but it is getting cold here in the northeastern USA! A great way to get your child to warm up to literacy is to read some extraordinary books by Ezra Jack Keats together. It’s always fun to read a variety of books by the same author, but how can you take your reading activities to the next level? Here’s one way: If your child is between the ages of 2 and 7, and you will be in the New York City area this weekend, you can attend this Saturday’s multimedia event, Ezra Jack Keats in Story and Song

When young children engage in creative play with figures, such as the ones made by Playmobil , they’re learning so much about themselves and others in the process. GreenGuy used to love these during the preschool years, but when he got into the primary grades, he loved building Legos and playing with the figures that came with them.

I hope you enjoyed part 1 of my interview with Terry Doherty, where she told us all about her nonprofit literacy organization, The Reading Tub . It amazes me how she was able to take one simple idea and build the life she wanted around it
