When I’m An Old Lady
Out of all the problems there are in this world, the one I have found to be the most frustrating is apathy. The busier we all get, the more problems we minimize, brush off, or even fail to see at all. It’s like we’re all running around in the pouring rain, but we’ve covered ourselves head to toe so that we can’t feel the moisture

When GreenGuy found out that a favorite author, Tim Green, had not one, but two new books out, we had to drop everything and go get them! I’m always happy to see my see my son reading and enjoying his books because as I’ve said before, he’s such a positive role model. I remember growing up watching Anne of Green Gabels movies at my Grandpa’s house. I was so young that I hardly remember the plot line besides a red haired orphan (not to be confused with Annie!) but I do remember her always saying her name was, “Anne with an E.” While our son’s name will not

© Dawn Riccardi Morris, Vermont 2009 With Earth Day coming up this Thursday, April 22nd, I thought I’d gather all of my 2009 posts relating to the natural world. Spring is in the air, and it’s a great time to talk about the environment, the crazy weather we’ve been having, trees, gardens, life cycles, insects, the night sky, the beach, butterflies, the water cycle, etc…. With everything springing to new life around us, it’s also a great time to inspire the creative writer within your child and yourself! So, please feel free to use any of these books as starting points not only for discussion, but for journal writing and the creation of artwork as well.

They should coexist compatibly.” ~excerpt from page 152 of The Read-Aloud Handbook , by Jim Trelease It makes sense, doesn’t it? Why, then, are so many individuals trying to do everything they can to convince everyone that the Internet can stand alone, at the expense of real books and libraries

©iStockphoto/Michelle Milliman It’s hard not to like the color green, isn’t it? I’m not talking about the color of American money; I’m talking about the plush green grass that surrounds you while you sit under some shady green leaves. The sun is out, and along comes a cool breeze…

I was going to continue on with my Chinese New Year series, but based upon the lack of comments, I’m guessing no one’s finding the information all that useful. So, if you would like more information on how to link the books together, or how to extend the learning to other aspects of Chinese culture and learning, please let me know. Otherwise, that’s it for this series
